Organizations Demand to Review Orange Line Project
A number of organizations including Lahore Bachao Tehreek, Lahore Conservation Society, Office of Conservation and Community Outreach and Friends and Concerned Citizens have launched a campaign for the conservation of Lahore city, which raised questions regarding the way Punjab government is expediting work on the Orange Line Project.
All these organizations have one purpose in common and that is to save the traditional lifestyle of Lahore. They appreciate provincial government for providing rapid bus transit system to Lahore but they demand to further improve the quality of work being executed for enhanced advantages to the citizens. In a press release the organization mutually stated that the Orange Line Project is a direct violation of several laws that guarantee protection of archaeological sites, heritage sites, ancient monuments and the environment. All these concerns must be looked into and resolved immediately by the government to ensure a healthy and happy city for all the people living here |
