Supreme Court seeks progress report on murder of 3 Baloch nationalists
ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Tuesday directed Balochistan chief secretary to submit a comprehensive progress report on the brutal killing of three Baloch nationalists.
The Baloch leaders who were killed included Ghulam Muhammad Baloch, Lal Muneer Baloch and Sher Muhammad Baloch. The CJP had taken suo motu notice of the incident. In compliance with the court orders, Balochistan chief secretary submitted a report stating that the provincial government was making its best efforts to ensure that investigation of tragic incidents was conducted professionally, purposefully and impartially. The report said that the investigation team had completed forensic tests, recorded statements and traced mobile phone numbers of the culprits. Justice Nadir Khan was appointed as head of the inquiry tribunal which authorised district and sessions judge of Turbat to record statements of general public and witnesses but no one joined the investigation, even the complainant failed to do so, the report said. The final report of the tribunal has not yet been submitted to the SC. http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp...009_pg7_26 |
